PITTSBURGH, PA - The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division, as part of a continuing commitment to building a community of creative students, is pleased to announce the introduction of AiConnections, a social networking website where students and faculty can connect online with fellow classmates to discuss common interests and share information.
"We are very excited to offer our students and faculty a place where they can share ideas, make friends, network and connect with one another," said Cynthia Liefeld Ph.D., Vice President of Academic Affairs, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. "Because our students are learning online, AiConnections provides them with the sense of community that traditional students get everyday on campus."
Similar to MySpace.com and Facebook.com, AiConnections provides a community beyond the classroom, allowing students and faculty to create their own personal profiles. Through their profile, they can add others to their friends list, write testimonials, read and post blogs, send messages and chat one-on-one in real time. Students and faculty can also create groups and invite other like-minded students and faculty members to join in collaboration on a variety of topics related to school, professional, and personal interests.
Already more than 1,500 online and residential students and faculty have joined AiConnections and are participating in more than 100 groups.
"As the leader in creative arts education online, AiConnections is a part of our continuing commitment to enhancing the student experience," said Liefeld. "This initiative complements our online education and provides an engaging place for our student and faculty communities."
