      Digital Design Program Faculty

      The faculty at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division are chosen for their ability to prepare our students for their career pursuits in the real world. All of our faculty attend orientation to learn the best practices for online learning so they have the skills and knowledge to support adult learner success in our online classrooms.

      Ms. Louisa Bufardeci

      Before teaching for The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division, Ms. Bufardeci worked as a teacher of design and color theory at the Photography Studies College in Melbourne, Australia, and as a teacher of drawing and professional practices at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne.   Currently, she teaches FND 110: Drawing, FND112: Fundamentals of Design, and FND111: Color Theory for The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division Foundations.  Louisa maintains an active career as a visual artist and has recently exhibited in the Asian Art Biennial in Taiwan and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.  This year she is working on a new body of work for a solo exhibition in 2011.

      Mr. Joseph Podlesnik

      Mr. Podlesnik received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Cornell University. Before accepting a full-time teaching position with The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division,  Mr. Podlesnik taught foundational art courses for the University of the Arts-Philadelphia, Cornell University, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. While at Richard Stockton College, he developed an art/psychology/philosophy seminar course titled "The Image and the Eye.”

      Ms. Kathryn Butler

      Ms. Butler received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lewis and Clark College and a Master’s degree in English from the University of Arizona.  She has taught literature and writing at the college level for many technical and community colleges.  Before accepting a full-time teaching position with The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division, Ms. Butler taught for The Art Institute of Portland, also serving as lead of the Student Success Center. She is currently faculty lead for the Online Division’s English and Communication department and the director of the Online Writing Center.
