There is now an easier and timelier way for you to see your IDEA Survey results. We now have a new way for you to view your results once they have been processed by the IDEA Center and sent back to eCollege.
We have a new Report Hosting Tool that allows us to store your IDEA results within eCollege. Starting with the Fall 06 II session, you will be able to view your IDEA survey results. Previous sessions of IDEA reports are not available through this new tool.
Once you log into eCollege, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the log-in page until you see View Your Survey Results: Report Hosting Tool. Click on the Report Hosting Tool link.
The next page will allow you to select the session from the dropdown menu. If you taught more than one course in a session, both will be listed but you will have to select each one individually. Click on the Continue button to view your report.
Below is additional information to help you understand how to interpret your IDEA Report. There is a lot of data to interpret so you should review the IDEA Center website and the resource area they have available to help you learn more about the IDEA survey tool.
However, there are a couple of things you need to look at and understand. You should look at the adjusted scores because it makes your class more comparable by considering factors that influence student ratings, yet are beyond the instructor's control. Score are adjusted to take into account the students desire to take the course regardless of who taught it, student work habits, and reported class size.
On the front page of your report, look at Your Average Scores to see your overall ratings in the lower left-hand corner. Your scores should be at least above 3.25 or higher is all areas. If you are not, then you may need to examine ways to improve in these areas. Next, look at Your Converted Average When Compared to All Classes in the IDEA Database. Your scores should fall in the gray bar area or above. If they do not, then any area below the gray bar area needs stronger focus from you.
As another resource, you can go to the IDEA Center at the following website, www.idea.ksu.edu . Click on "Online Student Ratings System" at the top of the page. On the next page, look along the left margin for the heading that says, "Supporting Materials", then click on "IDEA Resources". Towards the bottom of the page, you will see a heading that says "Interpreting Results". Scroll down to the last item and click on "Interpretive Guide: IDEA Short Form Report".
