Participation Probation notices will be sent from headquarters to students via email beginning during Week 2. These notices will be sent to students who are not meeting the minimum requirement on participation. When a student has missed a cumulative 4 days of participation, they will receive an email notification of probation warning for lack of participation.
For each student in one of your courses that receives a probation notice, you will receive an email communication. This email will contain the student's name, course #, and missed participation days. A restatement of the policy will also be contained in the email.
A response button for the faculty to report a suspension/termination for the course will be contained in the email. The policy is: 8 cumulative participation days missed will result in termination due to lack of participation. The faculty member has the right to exempt the student from termination if there are migrating circumstances, and alternative arrangements have been made. If the faculty needs to report a termination, then he/she will respond to the email by clicking on the appropriate link contained in the email. The link will lead the faculty to submit the suspension/termination notification.
The Suspension/Termination notification will be received by the registrar who will enter a grade of "F" for the course into the Student Information System. An email will also be sent to the student notifying the student of the action that has been taken.
