Enhance Your Fashion & Retail Management Skills

The fashion & retail industries are incredibly dynamic – from season to season new styles, trends and consumer behaviors emerge. It is the fashion & retail managers who have the sense for style and business savvy it requires to keep their business successful in this constantly evolving marketplace.

The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Fashion & Retail Management at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division teaches students how to develop, analyze and implement sales strategies. It focuses on exploring retail buying practices and fashion merchandising online, honing inventory control and cost analysis skills.

The program also helps students explore the many potential career avenues open to them including buying, coordinating runway shows, sales consultation, manufacturer's representation and many other areas of fashion and design.

Upon graduation, students will be prepared to be part of the changing face of fashion from season to season by pursuing entry level positions in a number of areas including department stores, boutiques and designer showrooms.

      Career Portrait

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, “Clothing, accessory, and general merchandise stores will have many job openings over the 2008–18 period, fueled by the large number of workers who transfer to jobs in other industries and must be replaced. Employment growth will be steady and determined mostly by consumer behavior and preferences.

Overall, the number of wage and salary jobs in clothing, accessory, and general merchandise stores is expected to increase 11 percent over the 2008–18 period, on par with the 11 percent increase projected for all industries combined.”

      Accreditation

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).
