Garry McKee

Garry McKee earned his MFA from Georgia Southern University. Just after Graduating in 2000, he began teaching full time as a member of the Graphic Design Department at The Art Institute of Atlanta (“Ai Atlanta”), where he remained until 2005. In addition to his full time duties at Ai Atlanta, Garry taught adjunct with The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division (“Ai Pittsburgh – Online Division”). In January of 2005, he moved from full time at Ai Atlanta to full time online faculty with Ai Pittsburgh – Online Division, where he has been since. In total, he has been with Education Management Corporation for over 12 wonderful years. During that time, he has been a freelance designer and illustrator with clients ranging from Tyco to Marvel Comics, DC Comics to White Wolf Publishing, Applesouth, to a wide variety of local and regional organizations. But Garry’s primary focus is his beautiful wife and four remarkable children

His more recent projects included executing some of the sketch cards for the Iron Man 2 card set released by Upperdeck/Marvel just prior to the release of the film in summer of 2010 and some Batman Legends cards released by Cryptozoic/DC Comics in Winter 2013. Currently, projects have been increasingly focused on web and interface design for a variety of local and regional clients including CICPS and The Meridian Foundation.

Mike Massengale

Mike Massengale holds an AA in Commercial Art from Anderson College, earned his BS in Commercial Fine Arts at Appalachian State University. Mike received an MA in Advertising Design from Syracuse University, and a MFA in Illustration from University of Hartford School of Art. During the past 28 years he has worked in the design field in a number of capacities including graphic artist, illustrator, animator, art director and creative director. Mike still freelances as an illustrator and designer. His client list includes fortune 500 companies, as well as theme parks throughout the USA and Europe. He has also received numerous awards for his illustrations and animations.

Anne Catharine Blake

Ms. Blake earned her MA in Illustration from Syracuse University, and an MFA in Illustration from The University of Hartford. Her illustrations and designs have appeared in over 60 publications, including children’s books, magazines and newspapers. She also exhibits her work regularly, including the Museum of American Illustration in New York. Her work can be viewed in both private and public collections. She is currently a full time faculty member for The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division.

Graphic Design degree requirements

As a prerequisite for admission to The Art Institute of Pittsburgh — Online Division, students must be a high school graduate with a minimum, cumulative, final high school CGPA of 2.0 or higher, or hold a General Education Development GED Certificate, or associate's degree or higher.

Before you start your first course, you’re encouraged to complete an online orientation that introduces you to different features of the online classroom and prepares you for your role as an active learner in our online classes.

  • PC: Users should have systems with the following specifications: Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® 64 processor, Windows 7 with SP 1, 4 GB RAM, 20 GB available hard disk space recommended, 1280x800 display (1280x1024 recommended) with 16-bit color, 512 MB VRAM, and OpenGL 2.0–capable system.
  • Mac: Users should have systems with the following specifications: Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support, *Mac OS X v. 10.7 or higher, 4 GB RAM, 30 GB available hard disk space recommended, 1280x800 display (1280x1024 recommended) with 16-bit color, 256 MB VRAM, and OpenGL 2.0–capable system.
    *Mac users must have a minimum of OS 10.7 in order to run Adobe Creative Cloud.

Web browser requirements

Windows Users: The two latest releases of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome are supported.
