      Interior Design Program Faculty

      The faculty at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division are chosen for their ability to prepare our students for their career pursuits in the real world. All of our faculty attend orientation to learn the best practices for online learning so they have the skills and knowledge to support adult learner success in our online classrooms.

      Ms. Carole Lindstrom

      Ms. Lindstrom received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Science in Lighting from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In addition to being a full time faculty member in the Interior Design program at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division, Ms. Lindstrom is also a principal and owner of an architectural lighting design firm in Washington, DC.   Her professional experience encompasses a wide range of markets and applications, including corporate, healthcare, government, education, museum, performance, retail, hospitality, libraries, churches, and residences.

      Ms. Lindstrom has received numerous lighting design awards and her work has been published nationally.  She has presented seminars on lighting for the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, the American Society of Interior Designers and the American Institute of Architects. She is Lighting Certified through the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions and an active member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America and the International Association of Lighting Designers.

      Ms. Buki Esuruoso

      Ms. Esuruoso was a pre-med undergraduate student but eventually decided it wasn’t for her and switched to fine arts. She then went to graduate school and earned her Master’s degree in Architecture from Harvard.

      While still in architecture school, Ms. Esuruoso began illustrating interactive games and stories for educational software publishers. She continued working as an illustrator after she graduated and began working in architecture offices. She also started teaching interactive multimedia design and interior design studios on campus. Additionally, she has experience working as a designer and multimedia producer for companies ranging from WGBH Channel 2 in Boston to Lotus Development Corp. Now she works as a designer and educator. She primarily teaches Basics of Interior Design and Multicultural/Global Design for the Interior Design Program at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division. For relaxation, she builds stone walls.

      Ms. Gay McNair

      Ms. McNair obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas in Arlington and a Master of Arts from the University of North Texas. She was on the faculty team of the Interior Design department with The Art Institute of Dallas for 18 years. During that time, she participated in the process of the program obtaining Bachelor of Fine Arts status and CIDA accreditation. Having taught various design classes in the past, she concentrated on the history classes within the program. She has been an instructor for The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division for eight years. She has been with the school for just over 20 years.

      Previously, Ms. McNair worked for both residential and commercial design firms as well as her own company. She has also worked at the Dallas Museum of Art in the Registrar Department where part of her responsibilities were accompanying works of art in both national and international travel.

      Mr. Kevin Jordan

      Mr. Jordan has been a full time instructor in the Interior Design program since 2005. He is a graduate of Ball State University, University of Colorado Denver, and the Art Institute of Dallas, with 12 years of industry experience as a landscape architect and urban designer with firms in Atlanta, Dallas, and Denver, as well as three years experience as a graphics and user interface designer for AT&T Broadband. Mr. Jordan facilitates ID124 Digital Visualization for Interior Design, ID221 Introduction to AutoCAD, and ID352 Digital Presentation Methods.

      Lisa Tucker Cross, Ph.D.

      Dr. Tucker Cross is a Registered Interior Designer in the state of Oklahoma and certified by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification. In 2004 she received her Ph.D. in Sweden at Lund University at Lund Institute of Technology at the School of Architecture in the Environmental Psychology Department. Her Ph.D. Studies focused on developing a method for evaluating and developing outdoor environments within multi-family housing and urban spaces. Upon relocating to Sweden to conduct research, Dr. Tucker Cross owned and managed her own interior design firm in Oklahoma City. In 1996 she completed her Master of Science in Human Environmental Science, Living Space Design, with honors from The University of Central Oklahoma which allowed her to sit for the interior design certification exam (NCIDQ). In 1988 she received a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design from the University of Oklahoma with an emphasis on art and marketing.

      Dr. Tucker Cross has worked within the design and interior design industry for the past 24 years. She has been with the Art Institute since 2005 and has held a fulltime position since April of 2006. As an instructor for the Art Institute she teaches courses in Graduate Project Pre-Design, Graduate Project Studio, History of Furniture - 1830 to Present, Human Factors, Environmental Design and has been on two full quarter study abroad programs for the Interior Design Department as a lead instructor. She also works on various administration committees and is a Program Mentor within the department.

      Dr. Tucker Cross continues to work in the field of Environmental/Architectural Psychology conducting research and publishing studies to help advance the knowledge in these areas. Since 1996, she has taught courses in interior design, supervised architecture and engineer master students and worked as a lead supervisor to several students conducting their post graduate thesis work. She continues to work within the design industry developing new methods to advance the knowledge within the design community.

      Ms. Leslie Wettergren

      Ms. Wettergren has been a full time faculty member at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division since 2005. She has a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. She became an Illinois licensed Architect and Registered Interior Designer in 2002. In addition, she is both an NCARB and NCIDQ certificate holder.

      Ms. Wettergren has been practicing for more than 13 years in both commercial Architecture and Interior Design. She was an Associate Designer for Crate & Barrel, an Associate Architect at The JRB Group Architects, and a Senior Project Manager at Whitney Inc. Leslie teaches a variety of classes including Drafting Technologies, Codes/ Barrier Free Design, Human Factors, Construction Documents, Institutional Design, and Interior Architectural Systems and Detailing.
