      Web Design & Interactive Media Program Faculty

      The faculty at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division are chosen for their ability to prepare our students for their career pursuits in the real world. All of our faculty attend orientation to learn the best practices for online learning so they have the skills and knowledge to support adult learner success in our online classrooms.

      Ms. Laurie Tenzer

      Ms. Tenzer earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Hawaii Pacific University and her Master’s in Adult Education and Distance Learning at the University of Phoenix. She has been teaching in the Web Design and Interactive Media (WDIM) programs at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division since 2004. In addition to teaching WDIM students, she trained and mentored new faculty. She serves on the WDIM curriculum committee and Admissions Representative training team and has taught both online and campus-based courses at Hawaii Pacific University.

      Ms. Tenzer has lectured on the future of e-Commerce and presented web design workshops for several Hawaiian organizations. She is a former Director of the Kailua Chamber of Commerce and a founding member of its website task force. She runs her own Web Design business, WebWahine (web woman in Hawaiian) and is a member of the HTML Writers' Guild, the Association of Information Technology Professionals, Association of Computing Machinery SIGWEB and SIGGRAPH and the American Association of Technology in Education

      Mr. James Gonzalez

      Mr. Gonzalez received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Humboldt State University and two graduate degrees from UCLA.  He has taught courses nationwide in the fields of physical science, digital communications, interactive media and Web design for over twenty years and is the author of numerous books, articles, and training CDs including the international bestsellers Macromedia Flash Professional 8 Hands-On Training and CSS & HTML 5.  His current professional focus is on the application of interactive digital media in online instructional environments.

      Mrs. Kimberly Avery

      Mrs. Avery received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Applied Media Arts from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Animation. She also received a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix Online. Before joining the Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division, Kimberly worked for Kaufmann’s Department Store as a visual merchandiser for several years as well as several learning centers focusing on helping children grow and appreciate art. She also worked with the University of Pittsburgh to help develop graphic art for the Pennsylvania standardized tests for students with disabilities.
